Vehicles built before 1980 and not shown on the NAAMSA database

The NAAMSA compatibility database details fuel requirements for vehicles registered from approximately 1980.

Vehicles registered before 1980 and where manufacturer advice is not available should use an available 93/95 RON Lead Replacement Petrol (LRP) or Unleaded Petrol with suitable bottled anti VSR additive when operating at sustained high engine speed.

In the case of vehicles currently using 97 RON leaded petrol, an engine ignition timing adjustment may be necessary to operate on 95 RON petrol. Consult your local vehicle service outlet for further advice.

On reconditioning of the engine or engine cylinder head, fitment of unleaded petrol compatible valve seat inserts should be considered.
